Tadhg Gleeson

Tadhg Gleeson is a Consultant Radiologist based in Wexford General Hospital and an Associate Professor in UCD School of Medicine. A native of Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, he completed his undergraduate training in RCSI before successfully completing his RCPI memberships in his first year of Radiology SpR training at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin. He successfully obtained his Diagnostic Radiology fellowship in 2006 and went on to post- fellowship training in Vancouver, Canada where he obtained fellowships in Chest and Cardiothoracic Radiology under the tutorage of Professor Nestor Muller in VGH, and an Abdominal and Non-angio Interventional fellowship in St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver. He returned to Ireland in 2009 and took up his current position in Wexford.

He has numerous publications in the international radiology literature and has presented at multiple national and international meetings, as well as giving annual lectures on Radiation Dose and Cardiac imaging to Radiology SpRs. UCD medical student teaching is an important part of his work schedule and he is an active member of the Cardiac Imaging subcommittee in the Faculty.

Since his appointment in Wexford  he has acted as Head of Department, QI Lead Radiologist and Radiation Protection Committee Chair as well as lead radiologist on CT and MRI procurement projects.  Over the past number of years he has been an active member of the Faculty’s PCS & QI committee and the National Radiology QI program. He was appointed Chair of both committees last year where he is currently overseeing significant updates and revisions to the National Radiology Quality programme. He is also the Radiology representative on the National QI Program Steering Group.
